How to Play Wordsmith
Wordsmith is a daily word-building puzzle in Netflix Puzzled. You get a small board of letter tiles turned on its corner, and five chances to make the highest-scoring words you can.
- tap or swipe across tiles to spell a word
- each tile must touch the one before it, including diagonally
- a tile can only be used once per word
- some tiles carry two letters, like AV or TR, and count as a single tile
- the Rotate button turns the board to give you a fresh look at it
How Wordsmith Scoring Works
Every tile shows its own point value, and a word's score starts as the sum of its tiles. Long words then earn a length bonus on each extra tile:
- tiles 1 to 3: no bonus
- 4th tile: +10
- 5th tile: +20
- 6th tile and every tile after: +30
A six-tile word therefore earns 60 bonus points before the letter values are even counted, which is why one long word is usually worth more than several short ones.
Bronze, Silver, Gold and Best
Each word you submit is rated against every word that can be made on that day's board. Words in the top 15% of scores are Gold, words above the bottom 40% are Silver, and the rest are Bronze. The single highest-scoring word on the board is the Best.
Your five words add up to your result for the day. Five Gold-or-better words will always earn a Gold result, and our solver's top words show you exactly which five get you there.
Wordsmith Strategy Tips
Go long
Length bonuses grow fast, so a seven- or eight-letter word can be worth three times as much as a four-letter one.
Use the high-value tiles
Rare letters and two-letter tiles are worth far more than common vowels. Build your words around them.
Look for endings
Endings like -S, -ED, -ER and -ING can stretch a word you have already found into a longer, higher-scoring one.
Rotate the board
Seeing the tiles from a different angle often reveals words that were hiding in plain sight.

Each letter tile has its own value. On top of that, every tile from the fourth onward earns a length bonus: +10 for the 4th tile, +20 for the 5th, and +30 for the 6th and every tile after it. That is why long words score so much more than short ones.
Every word is rated against all the words that can be made on that day's board. A word in the top 15% of scores is Gold, a word above the bottom 40% is Silver, and the single highest-scoring word is the Best. Submit five strong words to earn a Gold result for the day.
No. Each tile can only be used once per word, and every tile in the word must touch the one before it, including diagonally. Some tiles carry two letters, such as AV or TR, and count as a single tile.
If you are new to Wordsmith, the game starts you on a couple of tutorial puzzles in place of the daily. Once you finish those, you get the same daily puzzle as everyone else, which is the one our solver shows.
The solver hides every answer until you ask for it. Tap a word to reveal one tile at a time, the same way the game's own Hint button works, so you can get unstuck without giving the whole board away.
