VIRTUALISM (plural - or s) virtuality, virtuality. (Christianity) The view, believed to have been held by Calvin and other church reformers contrary to the Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation, that the bread and wine (in christian holy communion) do not literally transform into flesh and blood but are the medium or mechanism through which the spiritual or immaterial essence of the flesh and blood of jesus christ are received.
