Etymology

An adaptation of the short stem (, stigm-, , στιγμ-) of the {{etyl, la, en}} stigma and the (Ancient Greek)  στίγμα. Compare stigmal and stigmate; hypodigm and paradigm; hexastigm, polystigm, tetrastigm, and tristigm.
