The First Thanksgiving

In  NOUN the Pilgrims landed at  PLACE with hopes of starting a new life in a new land. Some had traveled there in search of a better life, some were in search of religious freedom. They sailed in a small ship called the Mayflower. The first winter in the new land was extremely difficult. The next year the Wampanoag Indians taught them how to grow corn and other crops and showed them where to fish. After the fall harvest they celebrated their hard work and gave thanks to God with a 3 day feast. They ate many good foods, such as deer, duck, fish, berries, and corn. They called it the Harvest Festival, but we now refer to it as the First Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving we can gather together with family and friends to give thanks to God for all that He has done for us. I’m thankful for my family, my friends, and for good weather. For dinner we eat lots of good food. My favorite food on Thanksgiving is sweet apple pie. I always have 2 slices. My Dad carves the Turkey while my Mom makes gravy. I try to sneak nibbles of the stuffing and sweet potato casserole. After dinner we can watch football on TV and play games with our cousins. I go home stuffed, tired, and happy.
