How We Met

Kayla and Lauren met in the fall of their sophomore year at Northeastern, though Kayla had her eye on Lauren throughout their first year at University. Their first date was a/an  ADJECTIVE evening at Trident Booksellers. Lauren then left for a  NUMBER -month internship in Belfast, Northern Ireland, leaving Kayla in Boston. Lauren discovered a love of  NOUN, while Kayla leaned into  NOUN. Reunited after a semester and summer, the two relearn each other, diving into exploring Boston and their relationship. Hikes, visits to cultural sites, concerts, movie nights, Red Sox games, and so much more fill the space between academic and internship responsibilities. On a  ADJECTIVE June day, they spent the sunshine  VERB around Portland with friends, visiting breweries, small shops, and pizza places, and  VERB about the seaside. On this trip they learned that Kayla is the designated driver, and Lauren the navigator. Two years together were marked by a weekend in  PLACE  COUNTRY . An unusually balmy October weekend saw Kayla and Lauren climb Mount Royal, try poutine, watch a jazz band, speak Quebecois, and visit many a bookstore. The two of them embrace the New England autumnal festivities, with plenty of  FOOD and  FOOD to last the day. On Thanksgiving Thursday, Kayla and Lauren bundled up to watch the Macy's  NOUN. Many hot coffees and cold toes later, they enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of Lauren's family in NJ. Then a tradition of Christmastime cross-country flights to visit the Renfro family in California. Kayla trades  ADJECTIVE forests for  ADJECTIVE sunsets, and they welcome New Year's with Prosecco and beachy fireworks. Kayla surprises Lauren with a getaway for her birthday - two days in a tech-free cabin, set in wintry NH forests. They get lost in books and snow covered orchards and figuring out how to cook a frozen pizza sans-oven. University graduation is upon them, the season of evolution and celebration is a whirlwind of full force. Handmade rainbow stoles mark them both as visible representations of the LGBT community amongst the graduates, and they both take home  ITEM to joyful families. One week before they depart for  PLACE, Lauren collects her Boston family to help expeditiously plan for an important question. On May 17th, under the unfurling late spring vines against the setting sun, Lauren asks Kayla to marry her. London, Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Rome, Cambridge, and more - thousands of miles fall away under their feet. A month of adventures and fun and Aperol Spritzes aplenty. On the four year anniversary of their relationship, Kayla and Lauren took a  NOUN-peeping drive to see the autumn  PLURAL COLOR. On the shores of a NH river in the shadow of a covered bridge, Kayla proposed to Lauren, surprising her with a ring of grey diamond and silver beading. Their lives change forever on this memorable October day - welcoming a furry  NUMBER -legged child they name  PERSONS NAME , after their favorite city in their travels through Europe.  PERSONS NAME settles in quickly, especially given her introduction to their family: a dead car battery and a rescue ride from a friend in the middle of a chilly deluge. Skip ahead many, many difficult months of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kayla was working from home and learning new routines and Lauren was continuing to job hunt after a summer of little luck. After 2 years at Saint Paul Street, Kayla and Lauren make the 1 mile move to  ADJECTIVE Street, doubling their square footage and incalculably increasing work/life boundaries and happiness.  PERSONS NAME now stands guard at the windows against all manner of  ANIMAL and  ANIMAL and rascally  ANIMAL. It is finally the year of the wedding, and planning can begin in earnest. Kayla and Lauren spend evenings  VERB ,  VERB The Repair Shop, snuggling  PERSONS NAME, and being shamelessly domestic. Life settles into rhythms, growing with them both as they move into new seasons and adventures. Vendors booked, website up, outfits  VERB , and now the six months stretch out with time to spare. The summer boasts beer gardens and live music and beach trips and good books and inexhaustible love.
