Family Road Trip - Part Three

After everyone had finished eating lunch, the family sat around discussing  SUBJECT. This was a bit of a boring topic for Madison, so she decided to wait for everyone in their family vehicle. While she waited, she decided to call Uncle Brandon. "I really like how my notes are coming along in my journal. Maybe I can write down some more if I call Uncle Brandon, Papa and Grandma Rosie," Madison thought. So, she called Uncle Brandon. "What's up," said Brandon, answering the call. "Uncle Brandon, I was wondering if I could ask everyone a few questions." "Sure thing," said Brandon. Madison looked over her notes and said, "Well, my question to you would be this: When you were growing up, did my mom and aunt have a funny nickname that they used to call you?" Brandon grew very serious and maybe even a bit emotional. "Wow, I hadn't thought about that in such a long time. I don't really like to talk about it," he said, his voice choking a little. He sniffed and said, "But, since you asked so nicely, I will tell you." Brandon took a deep breath and said, "When I was little, Dana and Diana used to call me  ADJECTIVE  OBJECT  HUMAN BODY PART. And I hated it! I STILL hate it! But, I admit, I was  ADJECTIVE ,  ADJECTIVE and  ADJECTIVE , so I understand why they called me that. I deserved it." Madison was quiet a moment and then said, "Wow, thank you so much Uncle Brandon. I really appreciate you sharing that with me, and I promise I won't tell anyone your secret!" Then Madison asked if she could talk to Papa for a minute. "Hey Kiddo," said Tony, as he took the phone. "What did you want to talk to me about?" Madison explained her project and the notes that she was writing in her journal. And then she asked her grandpa this question: "Papa, if you could be granted one wish, what would you wish for?" Tony took a minute to think about it, then he finally said, "Well, if I could wish for only one thing, I think I would wish for  SOMETHING YOU WOULD WISH FOR." Madison didn't seem too surprised by his answer. "I had a feeling you would wish for that," she said. "You did?" said Tony. "You're a smart kid!" Then Madison asked to speak to Grandma Rosie. "Grandma Rosie, you are my last person to ask a question to, so I am going to try to make it a good one." Rosie laughed and said, "okay." Madison consulted her notes one last time and then asked, "If you could know the answer to any question, what would that question be?" Rosie admitted that she was not expecting that kind of question and needed a minute to think. "There's so many things I would love to know," she exclaimed, as she tried to narrow down her list. Madison urged her to hurry, because she could see her family was getting ready to return to their family vehicle and it was about to get very noisy soon (Caleb gets a little rambunctious after eating, for some reason!) So Rosie thought fast and finally said this, "Well, if I could know the answer to any question, I've always wanted to know  ASK A QUESTION HERE." Madison said, "Ooooh! That's a good question! Let me write that down!" Madison jotted some notes down in her journal and said, "Thanks, Grandma Rosie. I sure hope you find the answer to that question, some day. And if you do, I hope you'll share the answer with me, too!" Rosie let out a little laugh and said, "I will, Sweetie. I most certainly will." By then, the family had returned and so Madison said her goodbyes. "This has been the best project," thought Madison. "I am going to love reading through these notes years from now. These will bring back such fun memories." And with that, she closed her journal and joined in on another family discussion. This time, the subject was  SUBJECT and that was a topic Madison was very interested in! THE END
