ARMONICA (plural ARMONICAs) A musical instrument made of blown-glass bowls mounted on a spindle turned originally by a foot pedal, and played with wetted fingers, producing an ethereal sound. Technically, it is a crystallophone. It has enjoyed a modern revival.
