About The Word Finder

THE Word Finder

The Word Finder is an independent, content-rich website offering free online tools and resources for everything related to WORDS. (Don’t forget the “THE!”)

Originally developed in 2005 and launched online in 2006, The Word Finder began with just two simple tools. Since then, it has grown into a beloved destination for word game enthusiasts around the world. The Word Finder is a playful yet powerful collection of free online tools, games, and resources designed for anyone who loves language: Scrabble players, crossword junkies, Wordle fanatics, poets, students, teachers, and puzzle-makers of all kinds. Whether you're solving a tricky anagram, building a custom worksheet, or just seeing what rhymes with "orange" (good luck), we’ve got you covered. What started back in 2006 as a humble two-tool site has grown into a trusted destination for millions of word lovers, educators, puzzle enthusiasts, and trivia nerds around the world. Today, we host over 200 tools across word games, teaching resources, utilities, font generators and more.

We’re part of MPL Enterprises, a small but mighty company that also runs sites like CleverGoat, home to daily word games, HoopGrids and GridIronGrids, where sports stats and logic puzzles collide, and SwiftGrids and BlankSpaces, for all those Swifties out there. If you have any suggestions for site functionality or word game solvers, please contact us!

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide our users - teachers, writers, word game lovers, poets, scrabble players, and more - with the best available tools and resources so they can be inspired to teach, write, and play better. We believe language should be a source of joy and creativity, not just utility. That’s why we build tools that are intuitive, free, and a little bit fun.

The Team Behind the Words

We're a team of builders, writers, and word nerds, including Praveen, Joe, Abby, Elina (Project Manager), Jason, Marc, Griffin and Ryan (developers), Joe, Mia, and Selena (cruciverbalist and content creators) and finally Naomi, our team lead. We also have other remote team members who occasionally write for us or provide their creative visions.
